Kingwood Medical Center Announces New Breast Center
The Women’s Diagnostic Center at Kingwood Medical Center opened in 1997 offering basic screening, diagnostic mammography and ultrasound. Over the years their service lines have expanded to offering bone density and advanced biopsy techniques including stereotactic and ultrasound guided procedures. The new breast center that opened in October, provides patients with advanced technology and expertise in breast imaging.
Melinda Stephenson, chief executive officer of Kingwood Medical Center, commented, “Kingwood Medical Center is committed to the care and improvement of human life. In recognition of this commitment, we will strive to deliver high quality, cost-effective health care in our community. We are now able to offer state of the art technology, staffed with Radiologists and Technologists specializing in breast imaging.”
The newly renovated Center will emphasize the personal touch of breast imaging with several private patient areas, to allow for a relaxed feel throughout the mammogram experience. Jim Wall, Director of Imaging Services remarked, “The Breast Center will provide full field digital breast imaging, including 3-D or tomosynthesis, bone density and ultrasound. In addition, ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies as well as genetic testing will be available.”
“Our goal was to provide our patients the highest level of breast care and provide a comprehensive, aggressive approach in all patients affected with breast cancer. We strive to offer a personalized experience to everyone that walks into our center. Our mission does not end with reading the mammogram; we also take pride in navigating patients through our system to obtain any additional clinical appointments or surgeries that they may need.” said Chirag Parghi, Breast Center Medical Director and fellowship-trained Breast Imager.
“We are thrilled to offer this essential service to our community,” said Stephenson. “The center provides patients with a seamless integration of preventive and diagnostic services in a tranquil, compassionate setting. We feel very fortunate to have the unique opportunity to provide state-of-the-art care, close to home.”
